Brand Watch: Could Commune be Beauty's Next Acquisition?

The Business of Beauty Global Awards winner could be exactly what big beauty needs

What makes a beauty brand desirable in 2025? For the recent Business of Beauty Positive Impact awardee Commune, the answer is a product that is thoughtful, design-led and deeply rooted in sustainability. Founded in 2022 by fashion-veteran husband and wife Remi Paringaux and Kate Neal, the body and haircare line draws on its British countryside roots with an ethos of slow, communal living. "[It's] this return to the old, the slow," Neal says "Everything we do, we look to the ancient. And then we imagine it in a modern way."Middle East. Commune's packaging –plastic free and inspired by Victorian village fountain pumps and hydraulics – is a neat example of how they achieve this. "It's like nothing else," Paringaux says. "People who are interested in design and interested in sustainability are very excited to put it next to their sink." Commune's growing customer base is a testament to how consumers appreciate an approach that values slowness over the conventional industry model of quick turnaround and disposability. Alongside its flagship store that opened in 2023, the brand has expanded to luxury stockists across the UK Europe, North America, Hong Kong and Australia. Now with a Business of Beauty award under its belt, the company has expressed interest in further expansion into China and the
